50 Meetings and Participation in National Standard Development: Composite Group Conducted Large-Scale Business Mission to India

Russian delegation presented at G20 summit venue and initiated creation of Indian standard for construction composites

Surat – Delhi – Haridwar – Rishikesh – Dehradun – Varanasi, India – In September 2022, Composite Group undertook a large-scale business trip to India as part of the official delegation of Chelyabinsk Region headed by Deputy Governor E.V. Kovalchuk. The trip became one of the most productive in the history of the company's international activities and laid the foundation for strategic presence in the Indian composite materials market.

Record Number of Business Meetings

During the trip, the Composite Group team held 50 meetings with Indian business representatives, including negotiations with the country's largest industrial holdings – Reliance Industries and Jindal Group. Memorandums of understanding (MOU) were signed with both companies, which subsequently developed into concrete contracts. Cooperation developed in stages: follow-up meetings were held with Jindal representatives in Moscow, and the Composite Group team visited Reliance production facilities in Mumbai and Vadodara. In 2023, contracts were successfully concluded for the supply of machine lines to both holdings.

Two consultation meetings were held in Delhi with specialists on intellectual property protection, legal entity registration, and business operations in India. An agency agreement was concluded with a local partner, providing the company with permanent representation in the Indian market.

Presentation at G20 Summit Venue

A key event of the business program was a public presentation by Composite Group founder and CEO Oleg Belyaev together with prominent Indian scientist Dr. Krishna R.N. on the topic of construction composites and prospects for their application. The event was organized at the G20 summit venue, which ensured high status for the presentation and attention from the international business community. The joint presentation by a Russian entrepreneur and Indian expert demonstrated the potential of bilateral technological partnership.

National-Scale Initiative

Composite Group representatives held a meeting with the Deputy Minister and his team at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of India, where they presented a report on the prospects of construction composites. Following the meeting, an official request was sent to the Government of India to create a national standard for construction composites based on the Russian GOST, with the inclusion of Composite Group specialists in the working group for standard development. The Indian side appointed a responsible executor to coordinate this work.

The initiative received strong support from the Russian side: Director of the Research Institute of Concrete and Reinforced Concrete A.A. Gvozdev D.V. Kuzevanov and Academician V.F. Stepanova sent official letters supporting the project. Dr. Krishna R.N. held a meeting with the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, the Honorable Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, who also supported Composite Group's initiative. In 2024, a draft standard was published, confirming real progress in implementing the ambitious project to harmonize technical norms.

Business Localization Prospects

In the city of Surat, a meeting was held with the District Collector (the highest district official responsible for land matters, taxes, and administrative regulation). The prospects of establishing Composite Group's presence in Surat, Gujarat state – one of India's most dynamically developing industrial regions – were discussed, opening the path to production localization and strengthening market presence.
